Setting up a new server for my sites…

I have been dropping $149 a month over at cloudsites by rackspace to host all of my websites. Service has always been good but things really seem to be slowing down and I think it is effecting my websites rankings. I noticed when we launched Mt Baker Vapor that the average load time for a page was well over 5 seconds which is really long! Mototips has been doing very poorly and we have lost a lot of our search engine rankings we once had.

So the plan is to move all of my sites over to a serverint vps. Hopefully this speeds things up. It has been a very long time since I have had to configure a VPS or anything but their support so far seems top notch. I really hate migrating sites around.

Anyways when I moved Mt Baker Vapor over to a new home which is hosted by big commerce we have watched our page load times drop down to 1.6 seconds! I am making the same amount of calls as I was using on cloudsites so I really am thinking its rackspace overselling or something. I will keep you all posted about serverint. I have heard nothing but good things about them for years.

One thing I really like is I am able to start out with the smallest VPS package saving me $$$ every single month. On top of that if I want to upgrade I will never need to migrate again and if they need to move me to a new machine they will do it all for me. So upgrading will be pain free and easy. Pretty much as I grow they are ready to help me. So I am starting at the bottom and will work my way up as time goes.

If I had a site hosted on plesk or cpanel they would have moved over my sites for free but all my sites are hosted on custom software so that is a no go. Since I have time right now I may try moving stuff over tonight! :) . Hopefully it helps my page load speeds helping us with our seo work we do to Mototips. The site used to get so much traffic and if its page load time holding it back serverint should fix that.

I will write a full review of serverint once I have some time to try it all out.
